Dear Eagle Family,

On behalf of the entire Armstrong PTA Board and myself, we want you to the start off the 2016-17 school year strong and exciting. I hope that you had a fun filled summer of traveling or enjoying your time locally.

I am extremely happy to hear that our school has grown. Welcome to all new students and parents to our little school. I can't wait to say hello and meet all of you throughout the year.

The Armstrong PTA has some may fun and exciting events planned for this school year. Immediately, at the start of school, the membership drive is in full effect. For those of you that don't know, we pride ourselves in having the highest percentage of PTA Members in the entire District, kind of nice when you consider that we're one of the smallest schools. Last year, we had 150% participate but this year we're shooting for 200%. This means that for every student we receive two members! We can do it, all the other schools are always out to beat us, but let's not let this happen. Please reach out to aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, grandparents, and friends. They do not have to have a student at our school to count.

Our fall fundraiser will begin on August 27th. Please help our children by participating in our fundraiser. This is where we receive most of the funds to have such things as: Newsletters, school office supplies, playground equipment, school T-Shirts, AR luncheons, teacher appreciation luncheon, and a lot more.

One of the most exciting news we have this is our CARNIVAL! For the first time ever, Armstrong will have a carnival. The theme is "Reaching for the Stars"! We will have a "Taste of Diamond Bar," local businesses and organizations at booths, student council snack sales, huge inflatable rides, game booths, and much more! The Carnival will be Friday, September 28th from 5PM-8PM.

The PTA is where teacher and parents can make a difference. If you have ever thought, "why don't we do this?" or "why don't we have that?" I welcome you to have your voice heard. Please attend only ONE PTA meeting and see what we do. The PTA meets are once a month on every 3rd Monday of the month in Room 18. ALL ARE WELCOME!

Lastly, I want to leave you with a challenge. I ask that everyone say, "Hello" to someone you don't know every time you're on campus. Simply smile and say, "Hello." We are a family here at Armstrong and when you're on campus, you are at home!

I look forward to another exciting year of fun and learning and I hope you are too!

Sincerely,

Sabrina Garcia, Armstrong PTA President
