tn csanchezWelcome Back! The summer always seems to go by too fast. I hope that you took the time to not only spend quality time with our children but also to re-energize. I would first like to send a Bucketfiller Welcome to all of our new families. If you have the opportunity lease share with our new families a little about what makes our school such a wonderful place. Be a Bucketfiller and introduce yourself. I also want to welcome our new staff members. We have added four additional classrooms this year.

This has been an amazing year at Armstrong. We have once again been named a California Distinguished School. This was possible due to the hard work of our students, parents and staff. Therefore, let’s make a commitment to continue to be more involved in school and school functions this year. We have already begun a great year. We had our “Happy New School Year” celebration on the first day of school. Please check our pictures from this event on our school website. Last year, our amazing community allowed us to once again take first place in PTA memberships. We reached 150%. This year, we are aiming for 200%. This means that every student would return a minimum of two PTA envelopes. As usual, the other schools want to dethrone us. But we know that the Armstrong community will not let us down.

We continue with our Bucketfiller initiative. Please take some time to discuss with your children how all of you have filled buckets this year. At Armstrong, we like to say that we are the best! We are the best not because we are innately any different than anyone else but because: 1) We work hard and 2) We are Bucketfillers. According to research, children need to understand that when we work hard, that means we do not give up. Instead, we think hard and figure it out. We hope that you can reinforce this at home by having our students try hard, work and and not allow them to give up. Also, please help us reinforce the importance of doing well in school.

Once again, we want to encourage all of our parents to participate in their children’s education. When you attend parent conferences, meetings and other school programs, you send the message that school is important. I realize first-hand the difficulty of being a working parent. For that reason, I encourage you to please touch base with your child daily. Ask them what they learned at school that day. Look over your child’s agenda or homework folder daily. Together, we can challenge and motivate students and instill in them a sense of responsibility and excitement about learning. In partnership with our amazing Armstrong community, I look forward to another amazing year. Go Eagles!!!

Yours in Learning,

Mrs. Sanchez
