Traffic Safety

tn trafficesafetyArmstrong Elementary School places a high priority not only on the academic and social development of our students, but we also set high standards for keeping our students safe. Over the last couple of weeks I have observed some unsafe traffic and pedestrian behavior in front of our school, so I would like to talk this month about safety issues. The city of Diamond Bar is also concerned about traffic safety around our schools and they have produced a traffic video that is shown on DBTV, Channel 3, at 7:00 p.m. on week days.  To go along with this initiative by the city, please review the following safety rules for parents and students:

  • Students should only cross the street at the cross-walks.  Please do not lead your children across the street in the middle of the block.  We need all adults to model the use of cross-walks for our children.
  • Drivers should always pull over to the curb before allowing children to get in or out of the car.
  • The curb in front of the school is marked as a "LOADING ZONE".  Please do leave your car unattended.
  • Drivers should never park where they are obstructing the view of a cross-walk.
  • The parking lot is for staff parking and school buses only.
  • Students should never be dropped off or picked up in the parking lot.
  • Students and parents should never walk through the parking lot.

The majority of our parents put the safety of children before their own convenience, and they follow our traffic and parking regulations.  As community members, if you notice a safety violation you may report it directly to the sheriff's station by calling (909) 595-2264.
